Bellinis, boatrides and many other local charms to be found in York

I have lived in York for nearly three years now and love so many things about it. I love that I can walk back from the racecourse along the river and stop at the King Arms pub for a super cheap and nice pint. I love that when the sun shines and the daffodils are out, Museum Gardens is the nicest place on earth to watch the world go by. I love KoKo on Goodramgate for amazing bellinis and The Art Bar for delicious strawberry champagne. I love it that my dog is welcome in the two main department stores in York – Barnetts and Browns – and neither of them are owned by a chain.

I love our butchers – Tony Nearys on Clifton Green – with the best bacon and sausages around! I love that we can go and watch the new films in our small and friendly city cinema with a bottle of wine from their bar. I love Holy Trinity Church – to me it’s the most beautiful church in the world. I love hiring out a red boat with friends and cruising down the river. I love being able to walk everywhere and not having to use a car at all! I love that York is litter free and feels a safe place to be at night. I’ve lived a good few places now and I can happily declare York the lovliest of them all!
